The flooding of Tryweryn valley And the village of Capel Celyn ,
Ignited passions of the people of Wales
Who rallied for independence again?
Some trained in their valleys as young boys
And returned to their homes as men
Others route marched their way through Snowdonia In a bid for injustice to end
While the Liverpool Corporation
Razed homes to feed the greed
Of capitalist expansion The reason for this terrible deed
Villagers took their anger to Merseyside
Where they marched through the streets in vain
Their pleas were dismissed by the bureaucrats
Who callously ignored their pain?
Children went to their school for the last time
Tears fell on the desks where they sat
A final wedding took place in the chapel
Where the vicar he openly wept
As bulldozers waited with engines running
To clear the community
Many exhumed the bodies of loved ones
From the local cemetery
Now the young men who trained in the valleys
Fought back with revenge in their eyes
Exploding the pipelines to England
And exposing the government lies
Denis Coslett, Cayo Evans, John Jenkins
were but few of those who took part
To avenge the drowning of Tryweryn
Ran deep in their nation's heart
An apology came many years too late
To lay to rest the grief
Of a history cruelly stolen away
For the cause of industrial relief
Remember Tryweryn Remember Tryweryn
